Allen Farrell - The Official Website

Allen and Sherry Farrell

Welcome to the official Allen Farrell web site.

Allen Farrell, a legend of wooden boat building, has designed and built over forty graceful boats using only the simplest of hand tools.

Encouraged by his father to become independent, Allen learned to build what he needed with his hands developing an early love of hard work.

Allen's wife Sharie helped to build the boats, and sail them. Sharie was Allen's favourite subject in many of his paintings. Her amazing gracefulness painted with Monet-like qualities has been admired by many.

Sharie passed away in 1996, leaving Allen to live his last few years on board China Cloud where he painted every day using the ships ladder as his easel.

Allen sketching out his idea before painting

Allen's interest in painting began over 50 years ago in 1951 when he and his wife Sharie sailed to Hawaii and Fiji aboard the first sail boat Allen built, a 36ft. schooner named Wind Song. His generous spirit lives on in his delightful colours, printed since 1999 on archival canvas.
