Allen Farrell, a legend of wooden boat building, has designed and built over forty graceful boats with only the simplest of hand tools. Encouraged by his father to become independent, he learned to build what he needed with his hands developing an early love of hard work.
Allen's wife Sharie helped to build the boats, and sail them. She was his favourite subject in many of his works. Her amazing gracefulness painted with Monet-like qualities has been admired by many. Sharie passed away leaving Allen to live his last few years on board China Cloud where he painted every day using the ships ladder as his easel.
Allen's interest in painting started about fifty years earlier when in Hawaii and Fiji on board Wind Song. His generous spirit lives on in his delightful colours, printed [since 1999] on archival quality canvas.
A series of Allen Farrell Limited Edition Prints were printed on to canvas from Japan, these are limited prints and Allen was delighted with the works. In 2002 the Gallery Series of unlimited prints were reproduced onto canvas from original Allen Farrell paintings. Eleven small prints were made from original greeting cards painted by Allen.
