Wind Song was built in Bargain Harbour, Pender Harbour in 1947. Here she is seen in her early stages of framing, which is later removed after ribbing. In 1950, Allen, Sharie and youngest son Keray, sailed to Hawaii and Fiji. They were 56 nights and days at sea in this 36 foot boat, arriving in Fiji, where Wind Song was sold. The family spent 3 months in Sawani Village before travelling home by passenger ship Orangi. Later the Wing Song was destroyed by the worst hurricane in a decade in Suva Harbour, Fiji.

The Wing Song, launched in 1947, was sailing before a gale in Desolation Sound. The 36 foot staysail schooner was built at the Farrell's place in Bargbain Harbour, Pender Harbour. Over a 3 year period the Farrell's dug clams and money was made to sail south. Allen, Sharie, and 8 year old Keray sailed to Hawaii, then in 56 days they reached Fiji.
